Roy Earl "Pa" Garrett, born October 8, 1936, in Tarrant County, Texas, was a joyful soul whose love for music, family, and faith touched everyone he met. Growing up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Roy's life was filled with church hymns, laughter, and the strum of his guitar - a passion that led him to sing everything from Southern Gospel to Country, and even share the stage with a legend like Willie Nelson. After a long career as a Service Technician at Sears & Roebuck, Roy retired to Mertens, Texas, where he found happiness in the simple things: reading his Bible, cooking, solitaire on the computer and - much to the family's amusement - raising chickens. His favorite Rooster, "Horn", always kept dinner conversations lively as there was always a new story.
Roy was preceded in death by parents, Earl B. and Ruth E. Garrett, brother, Gary Don Garrett, brother, Sonny Garrett, daughter, Debra "Debbie" Luann Garrett, granddaughter, Katy Elaine McClung and grandson, Gary Lloyd McClung.
He is survived by his loving family:

Roy spent his last year surrounded by family that loved him, enjoying church, reading his Bible, playing his guitar with his grandsons and brothers at the church, raising chickens, and valiantly trying to master operation of his cell phone.
He passed peacefully on July 21, 2025, at 88, with loved ones by his side and the angels ready to lead him home. Roy was a treasure - never forgotten, always loved, and surely already tuning up a heavenly choir. We'll see you tomorrow, Pa.
