Richard Evermond Upshaw, affectionately known as "Dick," was born on October 13, 1944, in the serene town of Demming, New Mexico. He was a man of profound character and unwavering devotion who embraced life with both arms and made indelible marks upon the hearts of all who knew him. Dick passed away on December 25, 2025, at his cherished home in Whitehouse, Texas, surrounded by loved ones, a fitting farewell for a man whose life was characterized by love and family.
Educated with a bachelor's degree, Dick was not only a scholar but also a proud Marine, whose service to his country reflected his strong commitment and sense of duty. His life was a rich tapestry woven with experiences and relationships that exemplified his generous spirit and steadfast resolve.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Rae Upshaw; three children from his late wife Ruth; sons, Richard "Rick" Upshaw and Ronald Upshaw, along with his daughter, Kimberly Kae Largent; four grandchildren, Kyle Largent, Rachel Blake, Rayleigh Upshaw, and Renatta Upshaw; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Largent and Jacob Blake; brother, Gene Upshaw; sister, Mary Jo Milner. Each child carries forth his legacy, reflecting the love, guidance, and wisdom he imparted.
Dick is now reunited with his dear parents, Joseph Hugh Upshaw and Mary Bernice (Jacobs) Upshaw, who preceded him in death. Though they are no longer with us, their influence and teachings perpetually reside in the hearts of their descendants.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at First Presbyterian Church, located at 230 W. Rusk St., Tyler, Texas, on January 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. In celebration of Dick's life, a reception will be held thereafter at the Hollytree Country Club in Tyler, Texas, offering a welcoming space for all to share memories and honor a remarkable individual.

Richard will be laid to rest 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Colton, California at Montecito Memorial Park.
