Richard John Ehrgott "Dick", age 84, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2026. He was born on December 11, 1941 in Bronx, New York, to John Edgar and Ann Pelling Ehrgott. Dick was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from Northfield Mount Herman School in Massachusetts and Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1968 as a radar officer on board carrier-based E-1B Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft.

Dick excelled at math and worked as an analyst for Shell Oil Company for over 30 years. After early retirement, he explored his other professional love, cars, as co-owner of a luxury auto dealership.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his past wife and current partner, Ellen Much; three children, Debbie (Jeff) Eckert, Andrew (Sarina) Ehrgott, and Scott (Annamaria) Ehrgott; and four grandchildren, Joseph Eckert, Milo Eckert, Kayla Ehrgott, and Evan Ehrgott.

A Graveside Service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211.
