Odin Leif Andrew Keating, beloved son of Andrew and Sarah Keating, entered eternal rest on October 7, 2025, one day after the feast day on which he had been confirmed into the Catholic Faith, just three years prior. Leif was twenty years old.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, on November 19, 2004, Leif was the eldest son of seven children - Ophelia, Isabella, Luke, Liam, Imogen, and Katherine - and a devoted son and brother. From childhood, he possessed a joyful and contemplative spirit, a keen mind, and a heart made for friendship. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, believing that true friendship was among life's greatest treasures.
A lover of history, literature, and Catholic theology, Leif was a thoughtful student of the Faith who delighted in discussing the power and intercession of the saints. After his Confirmation by Bishop Joseph Strickland on October 6, 2022, Leif developed a deep devotion to St. Gemma Galgani and St. Padre Pio, often sharing with his father his reflections and dreams inspired by their heavenly companionship.
He loved working out, going out to eat with his family, and making new friends wherever he went. His bright blue eyes reflected both strength and innocence - the light of a soul that longed for goodness and truth. From his earliest years, he expressed a desire to one day marry and raise a large family in faith.
Leif is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jose "Gus" Sanchez and Lloyd Terry George.
He is survived by his parents, Andrew and Sarah Keating; his siblings, Ophelia, Isabella, Luke, Liam, Imogen, and Katherine; grandmothers Marsha Jo George and Zorita Keating, as well as many relatives and friends who love him deeply and entrust him to the infinite mercy of Almighty God. Leif's name means "beloved."
A Sung Requiem Mass according to the Traditional Latin Rite will be offered for the repose of his soul at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 5075 FM 14, Tyler, Texas, on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at the family homestead.
"This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." - Matthew 3:17
"O St. Gemma Galgani and St. Padre Pio, you who bore the wounds of love and shared in the Passion of Our Lord, intercede for Leif, that he may be received swiftly into the joy of Heaven, where tears are no more, and the peace of Christ reigns forever."
Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace.
