Michael Joe Sanford

Michael Joe Sanford, born July 27, 1954 to Patsy Priscilla Sanford and Joseph Luther Sanford, passed away on May 15, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Michael married the love of his life, Laura Sanford, on October 16, 1975, and together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, family, and devotion. He was a proud father to his two daughters and a deeply loved grandfather.

In his retirement, Michael found joy in bookbinding and woodworking, hobbies that reflected his patience, creativity, and craftsmanship. He treasured time spent with his family and leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Sanford; his father, Joseph Sanford; and his sister, Sharon Murphy.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Laura Sanford; daughter Kristi Ecord and husband Clint Ecord, along with their children Grant, Jacob, and Katy; daughter Kayla Peurifoy and husband Drew Peurifoy, along with their children Cassondra, Adler, Nicholas, Ardyn, and Allison; sister Gayle Lyons; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1876 Chapel, 10200 FM 344, Whitehouse, Texas, 75791, followed by graveside services at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Tyler, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of East Texas HomePlace in honor of Michael's memory.
