Kobra Montenasseri Meeks, age 96, was born January 30, 1929, to Hosain and Soghra Montenasseri in Tehran, Iran. She passed away September 23, 2025, in Tyler, Texas.
Her parents, older sister, Shamsalmoluk; husband, Abraham, and son, Siamack preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Sudabeh Matthews (Larry) and Sohayla Shaw (James); grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Davis (Robert) and Wendall J. Reeves, and great-grandchildren, Dia Zean Reeves, Zane Abraham Reeves, and Stella Grace Davis. She also has numerous relatives and friends both stateside and in Iran.
Kobra was highly educated and studied right up to the end. She possessed many skills and talents as a teacher, seamstress, and as an accomplished mountaineer.
In the mid 1960s she taught mountaineering skills to young ladies. In Iran she was recognized by the late Shah and the Queen who presented her with gold medals recognizing her leadership and many accomplishments. When you were in her presence, at some point she would produce her photo albums that documented these events. She took pride when remembering and talking of her past in Iran. She left Tehran at the beginning of the 1978 Islamic Revolution. She missed her homeland and family every day of her long life.
In her forty-seven years in Texas, Kobra never stopped impacting people with her wisdom and poetry. She was a teacher to the end, and will be missed and remembered by all.
