Kenneth Wayne McCabe, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at the age of 75.
Ken was born in Lubbock, Texas, on October 30, 1949, and spent most of his life there until moving to Tyler, Texas, in 2020. An accomplished athlete, Ken was a track star at Texas Tech University, where he earned a full scholarship and broke the university's 400-meter record-a legacy of speed, strength, and determination.
After earning his Master's in Education, Ken followed his calling into ministry, continuing his seminary studies and dedicating his life to serving the church. He faithfully ministered as an Education Director and Deacon at several churches throughout his life. His deep love for Scripture, his gift for teaching, and his passion for sharing the Gospel with everyone he met left a lasting impact on generations - children, families, and countless others who crossed his path.
Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Martha McCabe; his brother, Bob McCabe and his wife, Linda McCabe; and his three children, Jennifer Munro and husband, Iain Munro, Rebecca Jaquess and her husband, Travis Jaquess, and Matthew McCabe and his wife, Anna McCabe. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Duncan Munro, Abigail Jaquess, Tyler Jaquess, Alistar Munro, Ryan McCabe, Chloe McCabe, and Keenan McCabe.
Ken had a deep love for eschatology and often found hope in God's promises about the future. Now that he is with the Lord, he knows fully the glorious plan he so faithfully believed in.
A celebration of Ken's life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at South Park Baptist Church, 2201 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas.
