Joseph Allen "Joey" Sosh of Flint, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on February 25, 1955, Joey lived a life devoted to God, his family, and his community, serving with faith, humility, and grace.
Joey was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Janet Sosh; his son, Shane Sosh; daughter-in-law, Jenn Sosh; and his granddaughter, Elsie Jane Sosh, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann Lovelady and her children, Adam Phillips, Aaron Phillips and Brittney Phillips, and brother-in-law, Ellery Lovelady; his brother, Terry Sosh; and his niece, Michelle Sosh.
Joey's extended family held a special place in his heart, and he shared a unique bond with each member: nephew, Bobby DeRosa; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" DeRosa and sister-in-law, Rosie DeRosa; niece, Donna Oh and nephew, Luke Oh, along with their children, Giuliana, Isabella, and David; nephew, Peter DeRosa and niece, Lynn DeRosa, and their children, Nicholas, Evan, and Madelyn.
In recent weeks, Joey faced serious medical challenges with remarkable courage. True to his nature, he met life's trials with a smile and unwavering hope. Throughout his illness, he displayed the same strength and grace with which he approached everything in life, cherishing every moment spent with his family and in his final days with some of his closest and dearest friends. Joey was surrounded by those who genuinely loved him.
To know Joey was to experience his kindness, humility, and sweet gentle spirit. He delighted in life's simple joys-sharing laughter around the table, spending time with his family, and cheering on any race he could find, especially the excitement of a circle dirt track. Watching his granddaughter and family grow brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.
Joey's warmth, steady presence, and faithful heart touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, yet his love and example will continue to guide and inspire those he cherished most.
