Jonas Smith, a proud veteran, father, and husband, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 55. Born on March 25, 1970, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jonas was raised in Tyler, where he developed a strong foundation that would serve him throughout his life.
Jonas graduated from John Tyler High School and chose to serve his country by enlisting in the Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Senior Airman, honed his skills and developed a deep sense of camaraderie and service. After his military service, he furthered his education at Tyler Junior College, always striving to better himself and those around him.
Jonas was known for his vibrant personality and his unwavering devotion to making a positive impact in the lives of others. He truly enjoyed making April's dreams come true, encouraging those around him, and spreading joy. He had a remarkable ability to bring happiness into the lives of family and friends, spending quality time with them and finding beauty in broken things. His legacy is one of love, support, and cherished memories.
He is survived by his beloved wife, April; his son, Bryce Smith and wife, Alexis; and his daughter, Ashlynn Bragg and husband, Christian. Also mourning him are his brother, Jarrod Turner; sister, Delaina McCoy and husband, Frank; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who held him dear.
Jonas is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Turner; niece, Bailey McCoy; and sister, Gigi Turner.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his memory on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Friendly Baptist Church, located at 1903 E. Front Street, Tyler, Texas, with Pastor Dan Lewis officiating.
