Listen to Obituary

Frank Spangler, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Tyler, Texas after a lengthy illness with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body dementia. He was born on December 8, 1943 in Paso Robles, California, where he began a life defined by service, integrity, and love for family. Frank began high school in Mineral Wells, Texas, but graduated from Cleveland High School in Reseda, California.

Frank's life was marked by dedication to both his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, where through decades of commitment and leadership, he rose to the distinguished rank of Command Sergeant Major. His military career reflected his strength, discipline, and devotion to his fellow soldiers and to the ideals of service above self.

Frank continued his commitment to public service as a member of the Los Angeles Police Department. Rising to the rank of Lieutenant, he earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of the community he served. Known for his fairness, courage, and steady leadership, he mentored many young officers and was regarded as a man of honor both in uniform and beyond it.

Family was at the very heart of Frank's life. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 20 years, Lynda, with whom he shared a deep bond of love and partnership. He was the proud father of three children: Kellie, Kim, and Frank, JR. He was also a loving stepfather to Jody, Cory, D'on, Lyndsay, and Jason. His joy only grew as his family expanded, blessing him with 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. Frank cherished every opportunity to spend time with his loved ones, and his wisdom, humor, and warmth will forever remain a guiding light to them.

Those who knew Frank will remember him as a man of strength and character - someone who lived by his principles, worked tirelessly to protect others, and cared deeply for his family and friends. His legacy of service, integrity, and love will live on in the lives of those he touched.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Spangler and sister, Dovie Spangler Spear. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Memorial Service to honor Frank will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2025, at The Orchard at Martin's Pecanville, 23033 CR 117 Bullard, Texas 75757 with Chaplain Jason Driskell officiating. The family invites all who knew him to join in celebrating his remarkable life of service, devotion, and love under the direction of Brosang Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
