Ennis Rowan Trimble, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 20, 2025, at his home in Tyler, Texas. Born on March 11, 1933, in Lufkin, Texas, he led a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family, community, and country.

Ennis graduated from Tyler High School in 1950, where he showcased his athletic talents by playing basketball and baseball. His profound love for aviation spurred him to learn to fly small aircraft at the now-historic Steward Airfield, as he aspired to become an Air Force pilot. Shortly after his high school graduation, Ennis pursued his dreams by enlisting in the Air Force, with the support of his mother, who signed the necessary paperwork allowing him to enlist before reaching the draft age of 18.

He underwent basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and was soon selected for Air Intelligence services due to his impressive intelligence aptitude. Ennis served honorably as a lithographer in secretive operations, piecing together critical intelligence reports. His notable contributions were recognized with a Commendation Medal in 1954, awarded for his acts of heroism and outstanding achievement. The nature of his work required a level of confidentiality that prevented the acknowledgement of this honor until the files were declassified in 1989, with the medal being formally presented to him in 2010.

After his military service, Ennis transitioned to a fulfilling career as a Graphic Artist with AM International, where he continued to express his creativity and dedication to excellence.

Ennis was not only a committed professional but also an engaged member of his community and faith. He was a proud member of the Christian faith, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Masonic Lodge, contributing positively to all organizations he was a part of.

Family was at the heart of Ennis's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Myrta Trimble; his daughters, Maeschelle Cefalu and her husband, Patrick, of Rowlett, Texas, and Meri Mullicane and her husband, James, of Bullard, Texas; his sons, Van Trimble and his wife, Karen, of Tyler, Texas, and John Trimble and his wife, Leah, of Whitehouse, Texas; and his brother, Michael Trimble of Bainbridge, Washington. Additionally, he leaves behind a legacy of love through his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ennis was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Smith; father, John Rowan Smith; brother, John "Poochie" Smith; and sisters, Sandra Smith, Jackie Smith, and Dee Smith. Their memories will forever remain a cherished part of his life story.

His life will be honored during a graveside service to be held 10:00 AM, Friday, July 25, 2025, at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery, 12053 State Highway 64, Tyler, Texas with Rev. Larry Wickham officiating. Pallbearers include Michael Cefalu, Cory Trimble, Zach Trimble, Kyle Trimble, Jim Mullicane, and Van Trimble, along with honorary pallbearers Pat Cefalu and James Mullicane.

As we reflect on Ennis Rowan Trimble's life, we are grateful for his service to our country, his unwavering love for his family, and his dedication to his community. He will be profoundly missed yet fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Donations in Ennis' honor may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
