Elsie Ann Palmer, age 94, passed away on May 14, 2026 in Tyler, Texas. Elsie was born January 31, 1932 in Mabank, Texas. Elsie was adopted by parents J.W. and Marie Ann Goens. She was raised in Mabank where her father was the Superintendent of the school district, then the family moved to Tyler where J.W. became Assistant Superintendent of Smith County School District.

Elsie was their only child, whom they adored. Elsie graduated from Tyler High School. She met William Ralph Palmer at St. Paul's Methodist church and they married in 1951.

Elsie at age 16 was 4'11" at her tallest, but had an enormous personality. She was always up for an adventure. Elsie enjoyed hosting family for holidays, and friends for any occasion. She was not afraid to cut the head off of a snake, quickly whip up her famous chocolate pie or wear her stilettos to church. She loved gardening, shopping and traveling with her daughter and granddaughters. Elsie loved coffee, desserts and her pet Cocker Spaniels.

Elsie began teaching Pre-K following in her parents' footsteps as educators. She dedicated many years to teaching, singing and sharing her love of children.

Elsie attended Green Acres Baptist Church. She loved decorating for parties in her Sunday School Class.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ann Palmer Chesley; son in law, Roger Chesley; son, Stephen Daniel Palmer (Danny); daughter in law, Charlotte Naomi Palmer; granddaughter, Tricia Chesley Sepmoree (Scott); grandson, Brad Daniel Chesley (Amy); granddaughter, Catherine Chesley Goodgion (Sam); grandson, William Cameron Palmer; great granddaughter, Chesley Payton Kelly; great grandson, Clayton Lee Sepmoree; great grandson, Leo Manning Chesley; great grandson, Guy Pinkerton Chesley; great granddaughter, Mary Blake Goodgion; great grandson, Palmer Edgar Goodgion; and great grandson, Jacob Chesley Goodgion.

Elsie suffered for many years with Alzheimer's Disease. We take comfort that she is with her Lord and Savior and reunited with family and friends who preceded her in that journey home.
