Christopher Alan Escobar Riquelme, age 45, passed away on June 4, 2026, in Brownsboro, Texas. Christopher was born July 1, 1980 in Fort Madison, Iowa to Edeliro Anastacio Escobar and Maritin Yolanda Whaley. He was raised in Fort Madison, Iowa where he graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1998.
Christopher was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He had a love and passion for aviation throughout his entire life. From the time he could stand, he would run throughout the house "flying" toy airplanes in hand, dreaming of day taking to the skies. By the age of 14, he was flying a single-engine airplane around the Fort Madison area. His family would eagerly watch and wave as he flew overhead, proud of the young pilot he was becoming.
Christopher also had a passion for broadcasting and communications. He worked as a DJ at the KBKB radio station where he was known on the air as "Alan Wright," a name he had chosen in honor of the Wright Brothers, whose pioneering spirit inspired him. Afterward, he went to Blackhawk College to study communications.
After the passing of his father in 2010, Christopher relocated to Tyler, Texas, to be closer to family. There, he earned his insurance license and worked as an insurance agent. He loved his job and was gifted in his craft, becoming one of the top salesmen in the company.
Christopher will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor. He had a talent for making others laugh and could brighten even the darkest day with a joke, a story, or his quick-witted personality. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and cherished spending time with family and friends, sharing memories, telling stories, and reminiscing about the good times. He had a heart of gold, a sensitive spirit, and a genuine kindness that touched countless lives.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Christopher is at peace with his father and the many loved ones who went before him.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Edeliro Escobar; his maternal grandparents, Euquerio Riqueleme and Yolanda Riqueleme Bareiro; and his paternal grandparents, Anastacio Escobar and Carmen Escobar Mulé.
He is survived by his mother, Maritin Riquelme Whaley of Tyler, Texas; his sisters, Joyce Escobar Lajcin and Lisa Escobar of Tyler, Texas and Abby Escobar of Edwards, Illinois; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who loved him dearly.
