Charles "Chuck" Rodgers

Charles "Chuck" Rodgers Jr., age 82, passed away August 12, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Chuck was born February 11, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Charles Franklin Rodgers Sr. and Mildred Louise Rodgers. He was raised in Houston and graduated from St. Edwards High School in Austin, Texas, in 1961. Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Staff Sergeant and working as a fuel specialist at Ellington AFB from 1965-1971. After proudly serving his country, he began working for an insurance company in Houston, where he met the woman who would become his beloved wife. He married the love of his life, Sherry Lynn Rodgers, in 1975, and together they shared 50 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. His journey eventually led him to the funeral profession. He worked as a Funeral Director for 31 years, dedicating his life to serving families during some of their most difficult moments. He officially retired from the funeral business in 2010, but his desire to serve others kept him working part-time until 2024.

Above all, Chuck was a devoted family man who built his entire world around his family and his grandchildren. His greatest joy was spending time with those he loved, and he especially cherished his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart and brought him endless pride and happiness. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including fishing, watching sports and relaxing with a Hallmark movie. Known for his quiet strength, kindness and unwavering work ethic, Chuck believed in doing things the right way and never gave up when faced with a challenge. His gentle spirit, perseverance and unconditional love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Rodgers Sr. and Mildred Rodgers; sister, Carol Clarke; and beloved members of his extended family including mother-in-law, Mary Ruth Henson and son-in-law, Dominic Wong.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his son, Keith Rodgers and his wife Katelin, and her son Noah of McKinney, TX; his daughter, Lynn Wong of Colorado Springs, CO; his daughter, Laura Ingram and her husband Cade Ingram of Morgantown, WV; his grandchildren, Ella Rodgers, Denton Rodgers, Collin Wong, and Juliana Wong; brother, Tom Rodgers and his wife Judy Rodgers; nephews, Alex and Randy Rodgers; sisters-in-law, Toby Ingersoll and Debra Andrews; and many other family and friends he loved unconditionally.

Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on September 12, 2026 at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 New Copeland Rd, Tyler, TX 75701, with Rev. Richard Luna officiating. Visitation/Reception will follow at 12:00 PM on September 12, 2026 at Pollard United Methodist Church. His cremated remains will be laid to rest at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO, where he will be honored for his service to his country.
