Bobby (Bob) Wayne Freeman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on December 1, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on November 15, 1936, in Caddo, Oklahoma. Bob met Ellen in Brownwood, Texas and they married September 1, 1956.

Bob dedicated fifty years of his life to a successful career in the insurance industry, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Bob was a man of great depth who balanced a serious demeanor with a delightful sense of humor. Conversations with Bob often took delightful turns as he showcased his wit and charm, always punctuated by a well-timed joke. He was deeply passionate about his family, including his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, with whom he shared a profound bond and countless joyful moments. He and Ellen planned numerous family camping vacations.  He also loved taking his sons hunting and fishing.

Bob was a committed member of Green Acres Baptist Church since 1970. His faith was integral to his life, and he made it his mission to share the message of Christianity with those around him. His proudest accomplishments include his active involvement with the Gideons International, where he served as a devoted member of the South Camp in Tyler. He was known for his dedication to Saturday morning prayer meetings and as a Gideon Speaker, raising funds to distribute Bibles. His initiative to carry New Testament Gideon Bibles with him allowed him to share his faith widely, often presenting them to waitstaff and those willing to engage in conversation.

Known for his diverse interests, Bob was an aviation enthusiast who relished attending airshows, touring historical aircraft, and reading about legendary pilots. His adventurous spirit also led him and his wife, Ellen Freeman, to numerous camping trips across the country, sharing memorable experiences with family and friends. Bob's love for exploration extended to metal detecting, an activity at which he excelled, discovering thousands of coins, rings, and various artifacts along his journeys. His impressive collection was primarily composed of treasures he unearthed with his metal detectors, reflecting the joy he found in this hobby.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen Freeman of Tyler, TX; his sons Truman Freeman of San Antonio, TX, and Tyron (Ty) Freeman and his wife Gail of Tyler, TX; his grandchildren Josh Freeman and his wife Kasie Lightfoot of Chandler, TX, Shelby Trevino and her husband Jorge Jr. of Whitehouse, TX, and Steven Freeman of Idaho Springs, CO; as well as his cherished great-grandchildren Jeremiah Hubbard, Gabriel Trevino, Samuel Trevino, Lael Trevino, Eliana Trevino, Elijah Trevino, and Cain Freeman.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Freeman; his mother, Elsie Norris Freeman; and his brother, David Freeman and his wife Mildred.

The family expresses deep gratitude to their neighbors Mark and Kelli Price for their selfless assistance during particularly challenging times.

Bob Freeman’s legacy of faith, humor, and love will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew him.

Pallbearers:  Joshua Freeman, Jorge Trevino, Bob Bond, Glen Atchley, John Young, Bob Bloeman, and Wayne Tiller.  Honorary Pallbearers are the Gideon Tyler South Camp.
